Kapamilya and Kapatid, together again on Sunday.

ABS-CBN and TV5 signed an agreement on Sunday, October 11, to co-produce "ASAP XP," the musical variety show that has been on air for more than 31 years. The show will air on TV5 starting Sunday, October 18.

The deal was signed in Pampanga by TV5 chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez, with executives from both networks in attendance.

What's different this time

This is now an official co-production between the two networks, not a blocktime deal where ABS-CBN simply buys airtime. TV5's artists will also join the show, sharing the stage with ABS-CBN stars.

Several of the show's regulars attended the signing, including Ogie Alcasid, Piolo Pascual, Erik Santos, Darren Espanto, Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan.

Apart from TV5, the show will also be simulcast on ALLTV, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWant and TFC.

A quick recap of the drama

  • ASAP premiered in February 1995.

  • It moved to TV5 in January 2021 under a blocktime deal, months after ABS-CBN lost its broadcast franchise.

  • That partnership ended in December 2025 after a dispute over payments and revenue sharing, and ABS-CBN's shows moved to ALLTV in January.

  • The show was rebranded as "ASAP XP" in May 2026, moving from its long-time Sunday noon slot to Sunday evenings.

What the bosses said

Pangilinan said the partnership combines the creative strengths of both networks, backed by the reach of the MVP Group, and will create more opportunities for Filipino artists. TV5 officer-in-charge Chaye Cabal-Revilla said it reflects mutual trust and respect, and she hopes it brings Kapatid and Kapamilya viewers together every Sunday.

Still unknown

TV5 has not said whether the show will keep its Sunday evening slot or return to noontime. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. We'll find out soon enough: the first episode airs on October 18.
